tr driver for linux 2.0.30

I must admit that my linux version is not up to date, as is the token
ring card,
IBM TOKENRING ADAPTER A with 8 k memory. It seems that my ring is not
stable and
goes down now and then. This has no effect on all the Novell stations
and the
Novell servers , but the linux TR gets stuck. First I had the driver fix
in the kernel,
then made it loadable, hoping to get rid of the problem by  just
reloading it.
This works not always for me. Unloading is possible, but loading fails,
telling me
that the device is busy. So I have to reboot.
I have not been participating in the tr list for quite a while. Can
anybody give
me a short update where I find help or information
