Ok....  It's been a while since i've booted a 2.0 kernel, so if this is 2.1/2.2
stuff, I'm REALLY sorry, but it's worth a shot.

In the newer kernels for certain you need to enable routing.  You do this by:

cat /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward

If it is 0, echo a 1 to it (echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward) to enable
routing.  If you want to stop routing, you echo a 0 to turn it back off.
