I think I may have resolved my problem with the madge driver.  Since,
to my knowledge, we do not have anything that uses source routing on
our network I had enabled the "drop all source routed frames" option
in the kernel.  I re-compiled the kernel without this option and don't
seem to be having the problem anymore.  However, I haven't had a chance
to test it out thoroughly because I need to wire another token ring
port in my office, so I have to share one between two machines at the
moment :)  I'll try keeping it up for a week and see if I can get it
to fall off the ring again.
